David Boreanaz is set to star in director Brian A. Miller’s cop drama Officer Down. He joins a cast that includes Stephen Dorff, Dominic Purcell, Stephen Lang, James Woods and AnnaLynne McCord. John Chase wrote the script. [Deadline.com]

William Petersen is in negotiations to appear in writer/director Lorene Scafaria’s Seeking a Friend at the End of the World for Mandate Pictures. He would join Steve Carell, Keira Knightley, Adam Brody and Rob Corddry among the cast. Carell plays a man whose wife ditches him after news of Earth’s impending doom by asteroid strike. Agyness Deyn, Richard Coyle, Bronson Webb and Paul Kaye are set to star in director Luis Prieto’s English language remake of Pusher. Nicolas Winding Refn, director of the original Danish film, is producing. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Nicolas Winding Refn has secured financing from French mini-majors Gaumont and Wild Bunch to make Only God Forgives with actors Luke Evans and Kristin Scott Thomas on board. Movie finds a Thai cop and a British Gangster in the seedy underworld of Bangkok. Plans are to film in November for a 2012 release. [Variety (Paywall)]

Lisa Cholodenko is negotiating to direct the adaptation of Judith Viorst’s picturebook Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day for 20th Century Fox. Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Lisa Henson and Jason Lust are producing. Rob Lieber is writing the script. [Variety (Paywall)]

Anna Kendrick and John Francis Daley are negotiating to star in director Paul Middleditch’s religious apocalypse comedy Rapture-Palooza for Lionsgate.  They would join Craig Robinson in the cast of the film about a post “left behind” scenario. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Josh Duhamel, Bruce Willis and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson are all looking to star in director David Barrett’s Fire with Fire. Tom Conner wrote the script about a fireman in witness protection threatened by man he’s testifying against. [Variety (Paywall)]

Rawson Thurber is lining up to direct the marijuana comedy We’re the Millers for New Line Cinema. The movie about a drug dealer looking to retire on his 30th birthday has been milling through director and actor attachments over the years. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Saoirse Ronan will star in in the adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s bestsellig novel The Host for Inferno Entertainment. Andrew Niccol wrote the script for the film about an invasion by symbiotic aliens and the one woman with the will to resist the most powerful of them. Niccol may also direct the film which is seeking investors at Cannes. [Deadline.com]

Clive Owen and Anil Kapoor are set to star in the writer/director Roger Donaldson’s financial thriller Cities. Glenn Wilhide wrote the original version of the script which focuses on three intersecting story lines against the backdrop of the all-time market high of the Dow Jones average.
