With Thor certain to perform godly box office this weekend, look for actor Chris Hemsworth to reach Sam Worthington levels of (over) exposure.

According to a report from Deadline.com, Universal Pictures is keen to lock him in as the second title character in their Snow White and the Huntsman movie.

He would play opposite Kristen Stewart, who signed on to the lead back in March. Charlize Theron is also on board. Uni has working to lock down an actor all year, with Viggo Mortensen and Hugh Jackman both previously in talks for the part.

Rupert Sanders, best known for his stunning Halo 3 advertisements, is directing the movie. Evan Daugherty wrote the script.

The studio is racing against a competing project, The Brothers Grimm’s Snow White from director Tarsem Singh and Relativity Media. That one already has its cast set and is waiting for Singh to wrap up work on Immortals before it goes into production.

Hemsworth has two other features in the can, both of which filmed before Thor: Red Dawn and The Cabin in the Woods. He’s currently at work on Marvel’s The Avengers movie. If he locks this one he’ll have four movies coming out between now and Christmas of next year.

Plans are to release Snow White and the Huntsman in December 2012.
