Justin Bieber is striking a deal to co-star with Mark Wahlberg in an untitled street basketball drama for Paramount Pictures. Wahlberg is producing along with Stephen Levinson and Scooter Braun. Ian Edelman is writing the script that is described as The Color of Money meets The Karate Kid. [Deadline.com]

Richard Jobson will direct The Somnambulists, an Iraq war drama inspired by photographer Joanna Kane’s like-titled death masks exhibition which was displayed at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Armie Hammer is rumored to be in early talks to don the mask of director Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger for Walt Disney Pictures. Justin Haythe wrote the screenplay. Jerry Bruckheimer is producing. Johnny Depp has been attached as Tonto from the project’s inception. [Deadline.com]

Olatunde Osunsanmi will direct the thriller Evidence from a script by Johyn Swetnam. The story follows a found footage tack with police using recordings from cell phone cams to unravel the events of a brutal gas station massacre.  Marc Platt, David Lancaster and Michel Litvak are producing. Sheldon Turner and Bryan Singer will receive story credit and Ashley Miller & Zack Stentz and Jane Goldman & Matthew Vaughn will share screenplay credit for X-Men: First Class from 20th Century Fox and Marvel Entertainment. Credits reflect a circuitous blending of various competing X-Men projects (the original First Class based on the comics, as well as the defunct X-Men Origins: Magneto film). Sony Animation has picked up writer/director Paul Hernandez’s live-action/CGI project Instant Karma, which was previously set up at New Line. Project involves a thief who has a near-death experience that sees his soul reborn as a fly. He must work his way up the Karma chain to regain life in his comatose body. [Deadline.com]

Larry Charles will direct Sacha Baron Cohen’s comedy The Dictator. Actor Jason Mantzoukas is also cast in the movie. Kristen Wiig, Anna Faris, and Gillian Jacobs are vying for roles. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Jane Lynch will appear in Peter and Bobby Farrelly’s movie The Three Stooges. She’ll play Mother Superior at the orphanages where the trio grows up. Chris Diamantopoulos, Will Sasso and Sean Hayes play the title characters. [Deadline.com]
