Vera Farmiga and Joel Kinnaman are set to appear in director Daniel Espinosa’s Safe House for Universal Pictures. She joins Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds, Brendan Gleeson, Sam Shepard, Robert Patrick and Liam Cunningham in the cast. [Deadline.com, Heat Vision]

Chris Diamantopoulos is shaping up to land the lead role as Moe in Peter and Bobby Farrelly’s The Three Stooges for 20th Century Fox. He’s a newcomer and a dead ringer for the original Moe. Will Sasso and Sean Hayes are already cast as Curly and Larry. [Deadline.com]

Johnny Depp‘s rumored cameo in Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s update of 21 Jump Street for Columbia Pictures has gotten a confirmation of sorts.  Unnamed sources  the cameo is happening. The movie is currently filming and stars Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Ice Cube, Brie Larson, Rob Riggle, DeRay Davis, Dave Franco and Jake Johnson. [Coming Soon]

Paul Greengrass may transition to directing an adaptation of John D. MacDonald’s novel The Deep Blue Good-by for 20th Century Fox. Leonardo DiCaprio is producing and may star as Travis McGee as well. Greengrass had been prepping the Martin Luther King Jr pic Memphis but Universal recently bailed out of that movie under pressure from the King estate. [Deadline.com]

Adam Cozad will rewrite the script fro Archangel for New Regency. Joseph Kosinski is attached to direct the film about a military squad that hunts aliens on Earth, though he’ll probably helm Olbivion first. [Deadline.com]

Alex Winter tells his followers on Twitter that the long-overdue Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure 3 will start filming in six weeks. “Movie is gonna kick some ass. Just got the script. And now to read,” he tweeted. [Twitter]

Russell Crowe may make his directing debut with 77, in which he’d also star. David Matthews wrote the script from a story by James Ellroy, which focuses on two events from the 1970s including the murder of a detective and the gun battle between the L.A.P.D and the Sumbionese Liberation Army. Mireille Enos is circling a major role in director Marc Forster’s adaptation of  Max Brooks’ novel World War Z for Paramount Pictures. She’s play wife to leading man Brad Pitt. [Deadline.com and Heat Vision both claim “Exclusives” on the story]
