Is Viggo SUPERMAN’s new Zod?

Heat Vision reports that director Zack Snyder is on the hunt for an actor to play General Zod in the planned Superman movie. At the top of the list? Viggo Mortensen.

However, Mortensen has a conflict as he’s circling Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman. If he signs for that, it could be tricky getting him on board for Warner’s superhero pic.

Heat Vision also reports that there have been no talks between the actor and the studio. Rather it’s just a case of Snyder and producer Christopher Nolan liking him, though there are other actors in contention as well.

Zod first appeared in the comics in the early 1960s, but was immortalized by actor Terence Stamp’s portrayal of him in Superman and (more prominently) Superman II. He’s a survivor of the planet krypton who has all Superman’s abilities, and a bad dude to boot.
